The Abandoned Water Pot

in Dec 14, 2023

A samaritan woman, an adulteress, was the first to receive the confession from Him that He was the promised Messiah. John 4:25-26 "The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I, who speak to you, am He.”

To the city she resided in, she was dirty, used up, and forgotten. She had multiple husbands, yet the man she lived with currently was not her husband. He chose her to reveal His Divine assignment too. He did not pick the religious elites of that day, or the so-called righteous men of faith. He chose a woman, who then, no one even batted an eye to. He trusted her with this beautiful revelation of who He is. This alone can be a whole topic I could write on, but that's not what I feel led to do today. As I was reading this morning in John chapter 4, the lord highlighted something to me. The left behind water pot.

As you go on in the chapter it reads: And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?” The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” Then they went out of the city and came to Him."

The Lord began to speak to me about encounters with Him and how it changes people so much so that they abandon all they originally sought out. For me, it was alcoholism, men, and anything that made me feel different than I had before. When I met the Lord, I radically changed overnight. I had abandoned my water pot and picked up my cross. Hallelujah!

You see, nothing else matters after we experience the real-ness of Christ Himself in our lives. We abandon it all to tell others what He has done, who He is, and what He is capable of. I have never been the christian that preaches "repent or burn", as I just dont see that as the Fathers heart. His heart is in restoring His children. He has much to do on THIS side of heaven for you. I am not negating that we are given eternal life with our Father and Jesus. That is the greatest gift of all. I am simply saying many believers forget that there are people on earth today hungry for healing, deliverance, and new life. Sometimes all it takes is sharing that He is capable of all of that for them, and they will abandon their water pots in search of the risen King. Nothing else matters but Him.

I hope this encourages you today to reveal who Jesus is and encourage others in this revelation. He is so good, so faithful, and so precious to me. Thank you Lord!
